PlayStation players have some exciting news coming their way in the form of a new update that will make it much easier to join Discord voice chats directly from their PS5 consoles. Currently, players have to go through the hassle of first joining a voice chat group via a PC or phone before being able to use Discord on their PS5. This extra step can be quite cumbersome, especially when all you want to do is chat with your friends while gaming.
The update will be gradually rolled out to PS5 players in different regions, starting with Japan and Asia, followed by Europe, Australia and New Zealand, the Middle East, and finally North and South America. In order to take advantage of this new feature, players will need to update their console to the latest system software and link their PlayStation Network and Discord accounts.
To start a Discord voice chat directly from your PS5, you simply need to select the Discord tab in the Control Center’s Game Base. From there, you can choose the Discord server or DM group you want to join, select your preferred voice channel, and you’re good to go. You’ll even receive a notification when another Discord user calls you, making it easy to join the chat right away.
This update comes more than two years after PlayStation allowed players to link their PSN accounts to Discord in 2021. It’s clear that Sony is committed to making the gaming experience more seamless and enjoyable for its players.
Are you looking forward to this update? Keep an eye out for it in the coming weeks and let us know what you think! In the meantime, stay tuned for more exciting updates and features from PlayStation.
