A Florida woman, known as Legi0n in the gaming world, recently took home the prize pool of $28 after winning a local Mortal Kombat tournament. The event, called Juicy Game Night, took place in Orlando, Florida, and offered a variety of fighting game tournaments for the locals. In a four-person bracket for Mortal Kombat XL, Legi0n emerged as the champion, making her victory even more remarkable as she had her five-day-old baby sleeping in her arms during the competition.
Not really sure why this matters, but it’s pretty impressive to think about playing a competitive fighting game while also caring for a newborn baby. What’s even more mind-blowing is that Legi0n had just undergone a cesarean section five days before the tournament, following a complicated pregnancy. It’s hard to believe that she was even out of bed, let alone winning at MKXL. It took me and my wife a whole week just to leave the house after our baby was born, and that was without a c-section.
Legi0n shared on her X account that she only won because her baby coached her during the set. She also mentioned that she plans to send their daughter to Dreamhack, with tickets from her prize. The Juicy Game Night is where Legi0n met her husband, whom she had beaten in the same Mortal Kombat tournament. It’s pretty cool to see how gaming has played a significant role in her life, especially after the loss of their first daughter, Alcina, due to medical malpractice. Legi0n’s story is truly inspiring, showing that it’s possible to pursue your passions even in the midst of challenges like pregnancy and childbirth.
