iOS 18 Introduces Call Recording Feature with Privacy Notification

Apple has unveiled a new feature in iOS 18 that allows users to record and transcribe phone calls. The announcement was made during the company’s Worldwide Developers Conference, where it was revealed that call participants will be automatically notified that they are being recorded.

The new recording option will be available in the Phone app, displaying a soundwave and the duration of the recording. The transcribed calls can be found in the Notes app, where users can create summaries using the new Apple Intelligence AI system. Additionally, users will have the ability to record and transcribe audio directly within the Notes app.

It is important to note that audio transcription will only be supported in certain languages, including English, Spanish, German, French, Japanese, Mandarin Chinese, Cantonese, and Portuguese. This new feature is expected to be particularly useful for journalists and other users who need to record and transcribe calls while ensuring transparency with the other party.

While Apple Intelligence was a highlight of WWDC, iOS 18 will also bring other enhancements such as a customizable homepage, updates to Control Center, improvements to Tapback responses, and more. Stay tuned for the official release of iOS 18 and explore all the new features it has to offer.
