Famitsu recently released the latest sales data for physical software in Japan, and the Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake by Square Enix has been a massive hit. The game has sold a total of 821,770 copies during its opening week, with 641,195 copies sold on the Switch and 180,575 copies on the PS5. This makes it the fastest selling game in Japan for 2024 so far, surpassing popular titles like Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom and Super Mario Party Jamboree.

The top 10 sales chart is dominated by Switch games, with Mario & Luigi: Brothership also showing strong sales, although not as high as Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake.
