Nintendo fans, brace yourselves for some big changes coming your way at the end of this year. President and Chief Operating Officer of Nintendo of America, Doug Bowser, is hanging up his hat on December 31, 2025. But fear not, a new leader is ready to step into the spotlight.
Devon Pritchard, the current Executive Vice President of Sales, Marketing & Communications at NoA, will be taking over the reins. With 19 years of experience under her belt, Pritchard is no stranger to the company. She’s set to join the NoA Board of Directors and become a Nintendo Co., Ltd Executive Officer when she assumes her new role.
And that’s not all folks! Satoru Shibata will be stepping in as the new Chief Executive Officer, while also juggling his responsibilities as Managing Executive Officer and Corporate Director of NCL. Shibata has previously held leadership roles at Nintendo of Europe and Nintendo of Australia, so he’s no stranger to the company’s inner workings.
Bowser’s departure may come as a surprise to many, considering his journey with Nintendo started back in 2015 as the Vice President of Sales & Marketing. He took over as President of NoA in April 2019 after Reggie Fils-Aimé bowed out. In his statement, Bowser expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to lead Nintendo of America, noting the passion he and his family share for all things Nintendo.
President of Nintendo, Shuntaro Furukawa, thanked Bowser for bringing smiles to the faces of Nintendo fans and expressed confidence in Pritchard’s ability to carry the torch. Pritchard, who will officially assume her new role on January 1, 2026, is excited to build on the foundation laid by Bowser. With a diverse background in Business Affairs, Marketing, and Publisher Relations, Pritchard is committed to putting Nintendo fans first and continuing to surprise and delight players old and new.
As we bid farewell to Bowser and welcome Pritchard with open arms, the future of Nintendo of America looks bright. Let’s see what exciting adventures await under new leadership!
