Diddy Kong has been missing in action from a lot of Nintendo’s marketing, especially around the Switch 2. Like, where did he go? He did make an appearance when Donkey Kong Country Returns HD dropped in January, so there’s that, I guess. But the real buzz started when Donkey Kong showed up in Mario Kart World in January with a whole new look. People were like, “Yo, what about Diddy Kong? Is he gonna get a makeover too?”
And guess what? He did! Diddy Kong got a fresh new look, and it was revealed on the Nintendo News tab on Switch. You can peep him chilling next to the goofier version of Donkey Kong that we’ve been seeing a lot of lately. The comparison is wild, man. Diddy’s changes are more low-key compared to his uncle DK — his belly’s a bit rounder, he’s got teeth now (weird flex), and his cap got a whole new vibe. Instead of the white Nintendo logo, he’s rocking a DK pin on the side.
The cap switch-up seems to be inspired by the Super Mario Bros. Movie, according to our buddy Chris Scullion. So, when are we gonna see Diddy rocking his new style in a game? He hasn’t been confirmed for Mario Kart World yet, and he’s MIA in Donkey Kong Bananza. Maybe that’s where he’ll pop up next? We’re just waiting for Diddy Kong to make his grand return. Let us know in the comments what you think of his new look.
