Good-Feel, the developer behind popular games like Yoshi and Kirby, has announced a new 3D action game for the Nintendo Switch called Otogi Katsugeki Mameda no Bakeru: Oracle Saitarou no Sainan!!. This game has drawn comparisons to the classic Goemon series and is led by Etsunobu Ebisu, who was a key figure behind Mystical Ninja.
The game was released in Japan last November and now a game page for it, simply titled Bakeru, has appeared on Nintendo’s Australia website and the local eShop. It is set to be released on September 3, 2024, for $60.00 AUD, with a pre-order discount of 10% bringing the price down to $54.00. The game has a file size of 3.1 GB, is published by Spike Chunsoft, and there is a free demo available on the eShop for players to try out.
Bakeru’s story revolves around a character named Oracle Saitaro and his Festival Troops who are using a bizarre festival to take over Japan. Players control Bakeru as he travels to 47 Japanese prefectures to free Japan from the evil spirits. The game is set in “Fairy Tale Japan,” a mix of modern and old Japan, with over 50 stages to explore.
One of the unique features of the game is Bakeru’s drum, a secret treasure passed down by the Tanuki Clan that can purify evil spirits. Players can also transform into famous Japanese heroes like Kintaro and Momotaro by obtaining a Henge License, allowing them to use their skills and abilities in the game.
The Western release of Bakeru will include additional features such as new attacks like Hurricane and Spinning Top, as well as a new enemy called the Lantern Boss. The game promises spectacular action set in a fantastical version of Japan that combines elements of modern and historical settings.
If you’re a fan of action games with a unique twist and enjoy exploring different settings, Bakeru might be worth checking out. The free demo available on the eShop gives players a taste of what to expect from the full game.
