This week, we’ve got some hot takes to share with y’all. South of Midnight is letting players skip boss fights, and our buddy John Walker thinks more games should follow suit. He’s not alone in his dislike for boss battles, and it seems like the tides are turning in our favor. It’s about time someone listened to us, am I right?

In other news, Nintendo has updated its user agreement to basically say they can brick your Switch if you mess with it. Not cool, Nintendo, not cool. Who even reads those user agreements anyway? Probably should start, though, just in case they come after us next.

Xbox dropped a bombshell by announcing a remaster of the original Gears of War for PlayStation 5. Yeah, you heard that right. Xbox exclusive on a PlayStation console. What a time to be alive, folks.

The new GTA VI trailer is making waves, showing off the game’s Florida-inspired setting and introducing us to Lucia and Jason, the game’s dynamic duo. Some people are complaining about the lack of gameplay footage, but I’m all about the vibes and story, personally. We know Rockstar can deliver on the gameplay front, so let’s focus on the good stuff.

GTA VI is also breaking new ground by featuring a couple in a real relationship. Who would’ve thought we’d see love in a game about crime and chaos? Rockstar’s really out here changing the game, folks.

At PAX East, I got a sneak peek at the Switch 2 and its mouse controls. Not really a PC gamer myself, but I can appreciate the effort to blend different playstyles. The tech demo for Bravely Default Flying Fairy HD Remaster was a bit rough around the edges, but it definitely piqued my interest.

Nintendo isn’t playing around when it comes to piracy. They’re now threatening to brick your Switch if you dare to modify it. Not sure how effective this strategy will be, but hey, at least they’re trying, right?

Overall, it’s been a wild week in the gaming world, with surprises and controversies galore. From skipping boss fights to unexpected console crossovers, we can always count on the gaming industry to keep us on our toes. Who knows what the future holds for gaming, but one thing’s for sure: it’s never boring.
