North America to Welcome Pokémon Fossil Museum in 2026
The Pokémon Company has some exciting news for all you budding paleontologists out there. The Pokémon Fossil Museum, a collection of Pokémon skeletons and fossils, is gearing up to make its way across the ocean to North America for the first time in 2026. That’s right, folks, get ready to feast your eyes on some “life-size” replicas of Pokémon skeletons and compare them to real fossils at this one-of-a-kind exhibit.
The exhibit is set to kick off in Chicago, Illinois, at the Field Museum on May 22, 2026. So, mark your calendars and start saving up for a trip to witness this unique display. From spotting similarities between SUE the T.rex and Tyrantrum to comparing the Archaeopteryx to Archeops, visitors will have the chance to see how real animals, both living and extinct, have inspired some of our favorite Pokémon creatures.
Having already toured Japan since 2021, it’s about time the exhibit made its way overseas. While the exact end date for the North American leg of the tour is still up in the air, visitors can expect the exhibit to stick around for about 1-4 months, based on its previous stops. And if you’re curious to get a sneak peek of what’s in store, you can check out a virtual recreation of the exhibit online or watch a video from someone who visited one of the exhibits in 2022.
Now, if you’ve had the chance to visit one of the exhibits in Japan, you may have snagged some exclusive merchandise along the way. The big question now is whether the North American version will offer the same goodies for fans to take home as souvenirs. Not really sure why this matters, but hey, who doesn’t love a good piece of Pokémon merch, right?
As the exhibit makes its way to Chicago next year, it’s sure to draw in Pokémon fans and curious visitors alike. Whether you’re a die-hard fan of the franchise or just have a passing interest in paleontology, this exhibit promises to be a fascinating experience. So, will you be making the trip to Chicago next May? Let us know in the comments if you’ve had the chance to check out any of the exhibits in Japan and what you thought of them. Maybe it’s just me, but I feel like this is an opportunity you won’t want to miss out on.
