The classic tale of Pinocchio is well-known. The story of a wooden boy who becomes a human by growing his nose when he lies. He learns to be a boy by turning monsters into giblets and using a huge axe to cleave them.

Popping up with a new Steam page this week, Lies of P adapts the Carlo Collodi children’s tale into a grim Bloodborne-alike hack ‘n’ slasher. This trailer also has the hallmarks for a From Software movie. Choral wailing and grand overwrought architecture are all part of the trailer, as well as corpse-strewn streets and mangled creatures. Geppetto could have easily pulled his outfit from Bloodborne’s closet.
You’ll play the role of the wood lad and will be working your way through Krat, a ruined city. Lies of P is a strange and fascinating twist that allows you to “lie” through the quests. You will become more human the more you are deceitful, which has its own set pros and cons.

Lies of P is the second game by the developer after Bless Unleashed which launched in full earlier in the month. From a quick glance of Steam reviews, the game sounds perfectly ‘fine’. Lies of P seems all the more ambitious in its goals, taking direct shots at Dark Souls–a dangerous game, considering we’re less than a year out from Elden Ring.
There’s currently no release date planned for Lies of P, but expect to catch a gameplay trailer over on the game’s official website sometime “soon”.
