Alberto Núñez Feijóo begins to prop up the organic architecture of the new PP. In that operation, one of the most important names that remained to be determined is who would be Cuca Gamarra’s number two in the Congress of Deputies. And the chosen one is Carlos Rojas. Another Andalusian who joins the list of appointments of the new leader of the PP, who has insisted on strengthening his “tandem” with Juanma Moreno in the middle of the Andalusian pre-campaign.

Rojas, a deputy from Granada, will be the new general secretary of the Popular Parliamentary Group, replacing Guillermo Mariscal. His position will now take on even greater importance, since the rush of changes in the leadership of the PP has forced Feijóo, a leader without a seat, to go to the Senate by regional appointment and needs to strengthen his positions in the Lower House . In addition, Gamarra is also the general secretary of the party and needs a parliamentary squire. “The position of general secretary of the group is important now because it is to act as number two for a person who is in turn number two for Feijóo in the party,” they indicate. PP sources.

Born in Motril in 1970 and a lawyer by profession, Rojas was already the spokesman for the PP in the Andalusian Parliament for more than three years, after having been mayor of his municipality.

Feijóo will land this week in the Senate, where he maintains Javier Maroto as spokesman. The idea of the new president of the PP, elected senator by regional appointment, is to confront Pedro Sánchez in the Upper House as much as possible, trying to show a “duel between presidents”.

The National Executive Committee this Monday will also appoint the new area secretaries and will support Gamarra, Maroto and Dolors Montserrat, European parliamentary spokesperson, in their positions.
