The Prosecutor’s Office will investigate what happened around the assault on the Melilla fence last Friday where at least 23 migrants lost their lives.
This has been ordered by the State Attorney General, Dolores Delgado, who signed a decree this Tuesday entrusting the Attorney of the Immigration Coordination Chamber, Beatriz Sánchez, “to investigate the circumstances of the events that occurred on June 25 in the border of Melilla and in which, according to journalistic information, at least 23 people lost their lives in Moroccan territory, resulting in injuries to many others”.
Tax sources report that the Attorney General’s decision is based on the “significance and seriousness of the events that occurred”, which could affect human rights and the fundamental rights of people, as well as the uniqueness and complexity of the investigation .
For her part, the prosecutor of the Specialist Chamber sent a communication to Delgado on Tuesday requesting the opening of investigative proceedings to clarify the humanitarian tragedy that took place last Friday in Melilla.
