Robert Pattinson will star in the new film by South Korean filmmaker Bong Joon-Ho, director of “Parasite,” the acclaimed film that in 2020 became the first foreign-language film to win the Oscar for best picture.
According to an exclusive published by the newspaper Deadline, Joon-Ho is preparing, together with the Warner Bros. studios, a science fiction film in which Toni Collette, Mark Ruffalo and Naomi Ackie will also act.
The plot will be based on the novel “Mickey7”, written by Edward Ashton, about an agency employee who undertakes suicide missions since every time he dies his managers regenerate his mind in a new body that preserves his memories.
Joon-Ho will be very involved in the project, since in addition to directing it, he is also in charge of writing the adapted script and will participate in the production.
The South Korean has become one of Hollywood’s most sought-after filmmakers after his historic Oscar win with “Parasite,” a sharp critique of social inequalities in South Korea.
The film won the Oscar for best film, best foreign film and best original screenplay, while Joon-Ho took the statuette for best direction. Previously, the film won the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival.
For his part, Pattinson managed this year to unite the consensus of critics and the public with “The Batman”, a new film about the well-known superhero that changed the tone of previous installments and has already confirmed that it will have a sequel.
