Alright, so when I first heard about the new Mario Kart dropping with the Switch 2, I gotta say, I was a little worried. Not disappointed, mind you, definitely stoked, but still a bit worried. Mario Kart 8 has been such a massive deal over the years, with all the tracks and characters jam-packed into one awesome karting experience. It’s always been about the racing, plain and simple. So, it was pretty tough to imagine how Nintendo could top that.
Enter Mario Kart World, the big gamble to shake things up with an open-world twist. Now, here’s where things get a bit tricky for me. I just wanna race, you know? Jump into a solo or multiplayer race ASAP, with all the Battle modes and extras out of the way. But this open-world vibe in Mario Kart World? It’s kinda throwing me off. Feels like the game’s been invaded by all this modern clutter that it really didn’t need. The simplicity and precision I loved before are getting lost in the chaos.
Now, don’t get me wrong, Mario Kart World is stunning on the track. The racing itself is top-notch, probably the best in the franchise. That part definitely gets a thumbs up from me. But here’s the thing – I’ve stopped playing the game. Yeah, I dropped it pretty quickly because the open-world stuff just feels like a hassle. Too much unfinished business, too many boxes to tick off. It’s exhausting, you know? Just can’t seem to relax and enjoy the game as I used to.
But then, out of the blue, comes Sonic Racing: Crossworlds. I never expected Team Sonic to step up their game this much. They’ve really nailed the handling this time around. No more wonky drifting or clunky controls. It’s smooth sailing all the way, and it’s got Mario Kart beat in terms of pure racing feel. Who would’ve thought Sonic could outshine the Italian plumber in the karting department?
With Crossworlds, Team Sonic has finally fixed their handling issues. The gameplay is addictive, competitive, and just plain fun. Plus, the customisation options and strategic elements in the game are on point. You can tweak your ride to perfection and dominate the tracks like a pro. And let’s not forget about the unique track design that brings that classic Sega arcade vibe to life. It’s like stepping into a retro gaming paradise every time you hit the road.
So, in the end, it’s a close call between Mario Kart World and Sonic Racing: Crossworlds. Both have their strengths and weaknesses, but for me, Crossworlds edges out as the winner. The fast-paced action, slick handling, and overall engaging gameplay have me hooked. It’s a refreshing change from the open-world mayhem of Mario Kart, and I’m loving every minute of it. But hey, everyone’s got their own preference. Are you Team Mario or Team Sonic? Let me know in the comments!
