Persona 3 Reload is on its way to the Switch 2 later this month, and for those curious about the chances of a remake hitting the original Nintendo Switch, it’s probably not gonna happen. The Persona team made it clear after the initial Switch 2 announcement in July, and they’ve confirmed it again in a recent interview with Japanese outlet 4Gamer. They also shared some reasoning behind this decision.

So, apparently, the original plan was to bring it to the Switch, but “performance” issues got in the way. To make the game look good and run smoothly on an older system like the Switch, they would’ve needed more time for development and a possible year-long delay. Kazuhisa Wada, the general producer, mentioned they wanted to release each version “as close to other versions as possible”, and getting a Switch 2 dev kit quickly made that happen. Director Yoshihiro Komori also pointed out that a Switch port would’ve meant redesigning the UI and art.

This delay would’ve pushed the game’s release back by a year, but now it’s coming out this month because they decided to scrap the Switch version. So, if you’re hoping to play Persona 3 Reload on the Switch, you’ll have to settle for P3P or another game in the series. Are you planning to grab Persona 3 Reload for Switch 2?
