In Japan, the latest boxed charts have been released, and there are some new faces shaking up the top ten this week. Silent Hill f for the PS5 takes the lead, selling a strong 57,475 units. Mario Kart World follows closely behind with 35,027 units added to its total. Surprisingly, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds lands at number 9 with 5,571 units sold, unable to keep up with Nintendo’s popular kart racer.
It’s worth noting that Sonic doesn’t have the same appeal in Japan as it does in the West. Some speculate that fans may be holding out for the upcoming Switch 2 version set to launch later this year. Additionally, Atelier Resleriana: The Red Alchemist & the White Guardian makes its debut, with the Switch version outselling the PS5 version by selling 10,425 copies in its first week. The full breakdown of the top ten games for the week is as follows:
Moving on to hardware sales, the Switch 2 remains at the top, selling 44,150 units this week. The Switch OLED Model follows in second place with 14,187 units sold. In total, the various Switch models sold 23,110 units, surpassing the total of 16,911 units sold by the PS5 models. The previous-gen Switch emerges as the winner this week, continuing to hold its ground in the market. Overall, the gaming landscape in Japan seems to be ever-evolving, with new releases and familiar favorites competing for the top spots in both software and hardware sales.
