Nintendo dropped a bombshell yesterday when they announced that Bowser is stepping down from his position as the top dog by the end of the year. No, not the Bowser from the Mushroom Kingdom, but Doug Bowser, the President of Nintendo of America. His successor? Devon Pritchard, who will be taking over the reins starting on 31st December 2025. It’s a bittersweet moment as we bid farewell to Bowser and welcome a new face to the helm of NOA.
Who is Devon Pritchard, you ask? Well, despite not being a household name, Pritchard has been with Nintendo of America since 2006, working her way up the ranks from the legal department to her current role as the Executive Vice President of Revenue, Marketing, and Consumer Experience. She may not be a hardcore gamer, but she definitely knows her Nintendo stuff, according to former NOA employees Kit & Krysta.
With a background in law and a keen understanding of the gaming industry, Pritchard seems poised to continue the legacy left by Bowser. While we may not see her making as many public appearances as Reggie did in the past, her leadership style is expected to be more behind-the-scenes, much like Bowser’s approach during his tenure. As we say goodbye to Bowser and usher in a new era at Nintendo of America, one thing is for sure — the future looks bright under Pritchard’s guidance.
