A Palestinian teenager died overnight from Friday to Saturday from wounds caused by shooting by Israeli soldiers in the northern occupied West Bank, Palestinian sources said.

Mohammad Hamad, 16, had been injured on Friday night near the town of Silwad, on the outskirts of Ramallah, and died hours later, a Silwad municipal councilor and security sources told AFP.

The teenager was on a road to the Ofra settlement, neighboring Silwad, when he was wounded by Israeli soldiers, the municipal councilor said.

Since the end of March, the security forces have multiplied operations in Israel and the West Bank after a series of attacks by Palestinians and Israeli Arabs in which 19 people have died, most of them civilians.

In these police raids, at least 46 Palestinians and three Arab-Israeli attackers have died, some members of armed groups but also numerous civilians, including a renowned Al Jazeera journalist who was covering an operation in Jenin.
