The PlayStation 5 Pro was recently released, and it is Sony’s most expensive console to date. After spending a week testing it out, one of the main issues I encountered, aside from the high price tag, is the difficulty in determining which games are enhanced for the PS5 Pro.

If you own a top-of-the-line 4K TV and prioritize features like improved framerates and ray tracing, the PS5 Pro offers impressive upgrades for games such as Spider-Man 2 and No Man’s Sky. However, it is challenging to identify which games in your library or on the store are optimized for the PS5 Pro without looking up a list online.

Upon booting up the PS5 Pro, I immediately checked my game library to see which titles supported the new console. Unfortunately, there is no clear indication on a game’s tile or cover to show if it is PS5 Pro enhanced. Even when accessing a game’s submenu, there is no information provided regarding its compatibility with the new features.

Currently, the only reliable method to determine if a game is enhanced for the PS5 Pro is by checking the PSN Store. This can be done directly in the store or through the “Show Product” option in your game library. If a game is labeled as “PS5 Pro Enhanced,” it means that it will run and look better on the new console.

I had expected Sony to implement a more user-friendly system to identify Pro Enhanced games after the console’s launch, but no significant changes have been made so far. While a PS5 Pro enhanced section has been added to the store, it does not display all enhanced games accurately. Additionally, there is now a filter to show only enhanced games, but it cannot be applied to your personal library.

In contrast, Microsoft’s Xbox Series X uses icons to differentiate between native Series X/S titles and non-enhanced games, making it easier for users to identify optimized titles. It would be beneficial for Sony to consider implementing a similar system for the PS5 Pro to help players make the most of the console’s capabilities.

In conclusion, while the PS5 Pro offers impressive enhancements for certain games, the lack of a clear indicator for Pro Enhanced titles makes it challenging for users to take full advantage of the console’s capabilities. Hopefully, Sony will address this issue in the future to improve the overall user experience for PS5 Pro owners.
