Welcome back to the latest edition of Catch-up Crew, where the team at Nintendo Life delves into the world of classic games. This time around, we’re exploring the 21-year-old GBA gem, WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgame$! This game marked Wario’s first foray into the world of microgames and is available on the Nintendo Switch for those with a subscription to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack.

Our crew for this mission included Captain Gavin Lane, Commander Alana Hagues, Lieutenant Ollie Reynolds, and Ensign Jim Norman. As we gathered to discuss our experiences with the game, it became clear that WarioWare’s simplicity and charm have stood the test of time.

Despite our best efforts to find faults with the game, we came up short. The quick and intuitive gameplay, coupled with the diverse range of microgames, kept us engaged from start to finish. Each crew member had their favorite characters and minigames, from Jimmy T. to Mona, adding to the game’s charm and appeal.

One interesting point of discussion was the evolution of the WarioWare series over the years. While some crew members had sampled the newer entries on the Switch, there was a sense that the original game’s simplicity and purity were hard to beat. The mixed-media art style, catchy music, and quirky narratives all contributed to making WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgame$! a standout title on the GBA.

As we wrapped up our mission, the crew reminisced about their favorite moments and characters from the game. From Mona’s dark backstory to the addictive Paper Plane minigame, there was no shortage of memorable experiences to share. With Lieutenant Jim Norman taking the lead on our next mission to explore the world of Pokémon Snap, the crew is eager to embark on new adventures and continue our quest to uncover hidden gems in the world of gaming.

So, as we sign off on this mission, we look forward to the challenges and discoveries that lie ahead. Stay tuned for more exciting adventures with the Catch-up Crew as we journey through the vast universe of retro and classic games. Until next time, game on!
