Sega has recently released a new trailer for Sonic X Shadow Generations, featuring some familiar stages from previous Sonic games. Just like Sonic’s stages in Sonic Generations, Shadow will also be revisiting levels from titles like Sonic Adventure 2, Sonic Heroes, and Sonic 06.
One of the stages highlighted in the trailer is Final Chase from Sonic Adventure 2. This stage, which was Shadow’s last level in the game, takes players on a nostalgia-filled trip into space. The comparison to the original level shows that Sega has stayed true to the inspiration while making some slight deviations.
Rail Canyon from Sonic Heroes is another stage making a return in Shadow’s adventure. Team Dark’s variant of this stage was known for its difficulty, and the updated version in Sonic X Shadow Generations features impressive lighting and backdrops.
The third stage showcased in the trailer is Kingdom Valley from Sonic 06. This lush and visually stunning stage offers a stark contrast to the other Shadow levels. The transition between the original game and the updated version in Generations is seamless and well-executed.
Sonic X Shadow Generations is a re-release of Sonic Generations, considered one of the best 3D Sonic titles. The game originally launched in 2011 on multiple platforms, including PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC, and 3DS. The 3DS version had unique stages, including a fight against the Biolizard from Sonic Adventure 2, which will be returning for Shadow’s campaign.
Although the game looks promising, there are early concerns about the lack of Switch gameplay footage. Sega also teased an animated special called Dark Generations, set to release before Sonic X Shadow. The special will serve as a prologue to Shadow’s story in the game, and hints at a possible fourth playable character.
Fans are eagerly anticipating the release of Sonic X Shadow Generations on October 25th. Which stage are you most excited to play? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
