Apex Legends is celebrating Pride with a free in-game badge you can equip for your own Legends’ banner ads.

Respawn declared the Pride badge with a video featuring LGBTQIA+ workers discussing the badge’s layout and how Apex Legends represents members of their community via its personalities. “We make the game which we want to playwith,” states Annelie Fors, operators manager,” And with diverse representation in our sport, we’re showing our gamers a world that’s as varied as the world really is.”

“It’s crucial also that these figures don’t feel tokenized,” says associate quality designer Mackenzie Galbraith. “The fact that Bloodhound is non-binary is a part of the character, but it’s not the whole thing.”

The Apex Legends Pride badge features a design based on the contemporary Pride flag, which includes representation for Black, brown, and trans community members. The contemporary Pride flag puts”more emphasis on also marginalized people within our communities”, clarifies Galbraith. “What I really find nice about the flag would be that the forward arrow chevron layout, just kind of implying there is always this motion towards more inclusivity, more diversity, more allowance and approval of expression,” says Jaclyn Yuan, mature live artist.

This isn’t the first time Respawn has additional badges to Apex Legends assigning identities or significant cultural and social movements. Apex Legends included a Dark Lives Matter badge in February of this year to celebrate Black History Month. For Respawn, the free badge was a”little reminder that we should always stand in solidarity with our Black colleagues, partners, family members, friends, & gamers in the battle against racism and social injustice”. Following a increase in AAPI-related violence, Apex Legends added a Cease Asian Hate badge as well as a banner which popped up upon login that read,”Respawn, our AAPI Community, and our allies are united against Asian hate. Violence aimed at AAPI members, especially those with no ability to shield themselvesis abhorrent and unacceptable.”

To get your free Apex Legends Pride badge, simply boot and head to the Legends section at the top of the main menu. Then select a Legend, head over to Banner, and pick the Pride badge from the listing. There you go, it is that simple.
