Members of the Family and Women’s Unit of the National Police Headquarters in Aragon have arrested the director of the Aragonese Employment Institute (Inaem), Raúl Camarón Bagüeste, as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of harassment in the family.
As has been known this Thursday, the arrest took place last Tuesday, May 17, at his workplace, as a result of a complaint about an alleged crime of sexist violence, for the alleged harassment continued for six months to which he was your former partner.
Specifically, as a result of ending their relationship, on November 17, 2021, after spending a year and a half together. A “constant” attitude that began on December 5 until last May 15 he presented the complaint at the Civil Guard post in the Madrid town of Boadilla del Monte.
As published this Thursday by El Periódico de Aragón, the complainant presented a series of communications to the Civil Guard to demonstrate the alleged harassment, by telephone, by email or on social networks, as well as that her alleged aggressor ignored the constant requests of her victim to stop his attitude.
The victim explained at the police station that she contacted her assailant’s sister, that she had to deactivate a duplicate of her phone’s sim card that was done without her consent, that when she blocked him on networks, he demanded that she unblock him because if not ” I wasn’t going to close the circle.”
He also spoke with his mother, who asked him not to file a complaint because her son was a politician and that would end his career. But that in the end he decided to do it because, as he explained, he found out that a false account had been created in her name, with images of her in a swimsuit and that it was used to insinuate herself.
In addition, he received a message from this account to his personal account and it contained a photo of Raúl with a threatening message that said “I’ll take him, be careful, go for him as an asshole”, in reference to the man with whom He currently shares a relationship.
The same day of the arrest, he was handed over to the Court for Violence against Women number 2, as reported by the National Police Headquarters in Aragon.
After taking her statement, the judge on duty decreed her release but imposed a restraining order that prevents her from approaching her within 500 meters, as well as her work and home.
Likewise, it prohibits him from communicating with her by any means during the processing of the proceedings and until there is a firm resolution.
Camarón was this Thursday at a meeting in Madrid on active employment policies and, after the news of his arrest spread, he has begun his return to Zaragoza to meet with the Minister of Economy, Marta Gastón, to whom he reports hierarchically.
The counselor has indicated: “What is appropriate is to hold a meeting rather than a telephone conversation to communicate something that, obviously, will be communicated publicly and that I want to convey to you personally”.
After hearing the news, the Aragon PP has called for his immediate dismissal due to the “serious information” appearing in the media.
The popular ones demand the president of Aragon, the socialist Javier Lambán, to remove him from his position since, they consider, “he cannot remain even one more minute at the head of a public body.”
Raúl Camarón, born in Huesca in 1978, was appointed General Director of Inaem by the Government Council of Lambán in October 2019.
Degree in Political Science and Administration, specializing in International Relations, from the University of the Basque Country.
He completed his studies with a Community Law course by the Royal and Illustrious Bar Association of Zaragoza.
From 2003 to 2014, he worked as a technical adviser in the European Parliament in different periods, except between 2008 and 2011, when he was appointed adviser to the Secretary of State for Planning and Infrastructures of the Ministry of Public Works.
Between 2015 and 2019 he has performed the functions of coordinator of the Presidency Cabinet of the Huesca Provincial Council, being its main representative in the Aragonese Observatory of Demographic and Population Dynamization.
His professional career has been closely linked to European institutions, as well as social agents, both at a state and European level, with special emphasis on matters of interest to the Autonomous Community of Aragon.
