Banjo-Tooie NSO: Idle Demo Speed Issue Identified

Banjo-Kazoomy, the beloved platformer sequel, Banjo-Tooie, has made its way onto the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack’s N64 library. Fans are excited to reunite with their favorite bear and bird duo on the go once again.

While the overall experience of this NSO version is enjoyable, some players have noticed a peculiar speed issue. When left idle on the start screen, the gameplay demo seems to be running at a faster pace than usual. This discovery was first brought to light by Alex Olney on Bluesky, showcasing the characters moving around at approximately 1.5x speed.

Despite this oddity, the sound effects and music in the demo remain unaffected, playing at the correct speed and pitch. Fortunately, this speed increase only seems to impact the demo and not the actual gameplay.

Originally released on the N64 in 2000, Banjo-Tooie has since been re-released on the Xbox 360 and included in the Rare Replay collection in 2015. While it may not have reached the same level of adoration as its predecessor, Banjo-Tooie is still praised for its solid platforming gameplay. The addition of the game to the Switch library has fans excited, even with the sped-up demo.
