The weekend is here, and it’s time to relax and unwind with some video games. Before we dive into what we’ll be playing, let’s recap some of the top stories of the week. Summer Game Fest was a hit, and we got to experience a lot of exciting games during the Play Days event. With Nintendo’s Direct showcase on the horizon, we’re eagerly anticipating what they have in store for us.

In other news, a new Switch update has removed the option to post directly to Twitter/X, and Nintendo issued some DMCA notices to the modding community website GameBanana. We also got a hands-on experience with Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD and came away feeling optimistic about it.

Personally, I couldn’t resist the temptation of a good eShop sale and ended up buying Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age – Definitive Edition at 50% off. It’s a classic RPG that I’m excited to dive into this weekend. I might also pick up Wildfrost while the discounts last, but my poor wallet might not be too happy about it.

As for my colleagues, Ollie Reynolds is enjoying Tearaway on the Vita and Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga on the 3DS. Kate Gray is finally playing Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door and loving every minute of it. Gavin Lane has a packed gaming schedule with Link’s Awakening, LEGO City: Undercover, Dark Souls, and possibly Donkey Kong ’94 on the agenda.
