The Guatemalan security forces have arrested three adolescents when they beheaded another minor who finally died, in a residence in the north of the capital of the Central American country.

The victim of the attack, a minor under 15 years of age, died at the hands of the other three adolescents, allegedly gang members, as confirmed by the Guatemalan National Civil Police.

The three alleged murderers were 14 and 17 years old according to the authorities and were located by agents “who patrolled the sector” and who “heard the cries of terror asking for help,” according to the same source.

“Unfortunately, the victim was already deceased,” one of the spokesmen for the Guatemalan National Civil Police, Pablo Castillo, told reporters.

The detainees were “caught with the body of the 15-year-old teenager, a knife with blood stains and a poster with a text presumably directed” to members of the gang called “Mara 18”, the police said in a statement.

Castillo explained that the three adolescents arrested were referred to a juvenile court in conflict with criminal law, as established by the regulations in this regard.

The house where the murder was committed is located in zone 18 of the 25 that make up Guatemala City, in the north of the capital, and is considered by various reports and analyzes as one of the most violent in the metropolitan city.
