Remedy Entertainment, known for their single-player games, has announced their first multiplayer game called FBC: Firebreak. This new co-op PVE shooter is set in the world of Control, the popular 2019 paranormal metroidvania game. Unlike Control’s third-person action, FBC: Firebreak is a first-person shooter where players team up in three-player squads to take on the Hiss, otherworldly evils, in familiar but revamped levels with a new arsenal of weapons.

The game, revealed during the latest Xbox Partner Showcase, has a release date set for 2025 and will be available on Game Pass Ultimate and PS Plus. While the game is described as a “mid-price game,” it promises to offer a unique experience for players looking for some horror-filled fun.

Players will take on the role of a clean-up crew tasked with purging the Oldest House of the Hiss, navigating through office cubicles and underground labyrinths. They will have access to powerful artifacts and ‘paranatural augments,’ which are Altered Items turned into tool attachments. These augments act as ‘ultimates’ in the game and provide players with powerful abilities to combat the enemies they encounter.

Although FBC: Firebreak will receive post-launch updates, Remedy is clear that it is not a full-fledged live-service game. The focus is on providing an experience that is easy to jump into and enjoy with friends without feeling like a chore. Despite this, the game will feature deep player progression and unlockable content for players to explore.

Given Remedy’s reputation for creating immersive and detailed worlds, fans can expect FBC: Firebreak to be filled with haunting environments, creepy vibes, and Easter eggs for players to discover. The game aims to blend the cooperative gameplay experience with the eerie atmosphere of Control, offering a unique twist on the multiplayer shooter genre.

As Remedy continues to expand its universe across various games, FBC: Firebreak may provide fans with more clues and connections to the larger “Remedy-verse.” With its mix of horror, mystery, and cooperative gameplay, this new spin-off has the potential to attract both fans of the original game and newcomers looking for a thrilling multiplayer experience.
